I don't think it's going to be a power issue by just adding one hard drive but if it is, at boot is when it would draw more power.
I would assume that starting a computer is the time when it would draw a lot of power from the power supply. The additional internal hdd I added was a used hdd that I salvaged from another pc. I did format it when I first installed it, it was just a quick format, do you think a full format should have been done?

Since the dvd drive in my laptop from the first post is dead, it's an HP G6 model. I have an older laptop, it's a Compaq 6230, just wondering if anybody knows if the DVD drive would go into my HP G6, just wondering so I don't go thru the trouble of tearing apart both laptops only to find it wont work?

edit - nvm, it looks like the tray covers are a bit different so I doubt it will work.

A quick format should be fine but if you can still access it to format again it might be worth a full format and scan for problems. Now I know it's an older computer, does either hard drive have any jumpers for master or slave or anything? Old IDE style?

For your laptop DVD drive, see how the covers click on, you might be able to swap them.

It looks like the cover is part of the tray, maybe just swapping the laser assembly would work, I'll have to give a closer look at it.

edit, it looks like the drives are not compatible with one another. Probably can find a cheap one online somewhere. Or maybe when I needed to use a disc I can just use my external usb dvd drive.

So this is hilarious. Spambots often grab quotes from other sites to appear legitimate. This one just quoted me.

I turned off all the Windows 10 crap, and I login with an account not an email address, but when I first set it up I used a microsoft account. Good thing I did that, it makes it easier to get a copy of Window 10 reinstalled when I have problems.

I still haven't connected the internal hdd on my desktop, the one that was giving me problems after I did an update.
