No direct access to Amazon Prime though.

You'd have to run an Amazon app or the browser to access everything from Amazon. It's an integrated part of the Fire launcher. All the pages have Amazon stuff, including movies, books, and magazines.

If I didn't spend tons of time on Amazon, I can see how it would be annoying.

@RobGee789 Since you know more about Android than me, do you think I should install the TWRP or Cyanogenmod recovery image? Also, will that wipe my tablet?

I'm not Rob, but unquestionably TWRP. I see CM 12.1 has been released for this device as well (I'd assume same device anyway).

Is there a big difference between them?

PS: I just booted a TWRP recovery image and I'm doing a Nandroid backup.

There is currently no method to unlock the bootloader according to XDA. I can load TWRP through fastboot. It's less convenient, but I don't have to wipe anything.

it might be different for tablets but I just unlocked my phone on Sunday and it did not wipe it. To install a ROM you need to though.
