LOL, I've never done anything stupid, just don't wire me to a polygraph.

When would I save take out the SD card and save the information? After the NAND backup operation, or after it creates the three files/folders in question.

When you softmod your Wii, the first thing you will do is run the hackmii installer, that will get the homebrew channel installed and you can also backup your nand. After that is done, you then move on to installing the good stuff that lets you load homebrew. Most of your homebrew runs from an SD card or usb device, very few things get installed to the Wii itself. I keep all my apps on the SD card and put backups from a USB HDD. To me it's a bit easier to take the SD card to my PC to install/update apps instead of taking the usb hdd to the pc every time I want to add or update an app.

    They stay on the Wii.

Did Nintendo ever make it so the game saves could get loaded from the SD card? That was one of the problems for me, to many game saves using up all of the internal memory?

No. The best they did was let you back them up.

The generated ModMii for Windows guide by XFlak instructed to save the BootMii folder, nand.bin, and keys.bin "elsewhere" and erase them from the SD card.

    Where would "elsewhere" be?

EDIT: Can it be a USB flash drive?

ANYWHERE... It is just a backup. You can make a zip file and span it across a bunch of floppy disks if you want

Probably the best place to store a nand backup would be a pc or a usb hdd.
