I need some help with updating on my phone (Huawei)

Hello, I'm using an European Huawei P9 Lite (VNS-L31). The phone was originally locked down to 1 SIM card, so I decided that I would root it to flash a dual sim oeminfo and go back to the stock rom. That did work though I did notice that when trying to update the phone from Marshmallow to Nougat no updates were being picked up. I tried downloading the update package myself form Huawei Firmware Finder, and the package didn't install and would always fail. Any thoughts?

You changed the firmware. As I understand it there is a compatibility check. Unless you can change it back, then I don't see a fix.

Little update: I used Huawei Firmware Finder to update, it worked and I am running Nougat right now.
